With a focus on vulnerability, memory, and wounded territories, Talents Guadalajara held its activities as part of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), bringing together participants, mentors, and film industry experts in a space for training, dialogue, and collaboration.
This latest edition of Talents Guadalajara took place from April 19 to 22, during which participants took part in an intensive program designed not only for learning but also for sharing experiences and building professional networks.
“This place isn’t just about learning—it’s also about sharing, about all of you getting to know each other really well, and having the opportunity to create spaces, teams, and workplaces where you can meet people who, like you, want to keep growing and learning. I think that’s the most important thing you can take away from here, in addition to whatever you learn,” said Ximena Urrutia, director of Industry and Market at the FICG, during the opening of Talents Guadalajara.
In that same context, the importance of taking advantage of the dialogue with mentors and guest specialists was emphasized: “I think the beauty of this program is that when you ask questions, we learn, and many questions also come from our side. It’s wonderful to have this kind of dialogue. You have mentors and specialists here whom you probably won’t have the chance to work with again later in your careers, so make the most of this moment… Don’t hesitate for a moment: there are no silly questions—there are always valid questions and concerns,” noted production designer Eugenio Caballero.
Under the thematic focus “Vulnus América: Open Perspectives on Wounded Territories,” this edition sought to reflect on Latin America as a region marked by historical, political, and emotional wounds that remain open. Thus, cinema served as a meeting point from which to observe, frame, and make sense of multiple realities.
Over the course of four days, Talents Guadalajara organized a wide range of activities through its workshops—Acting | Directing Studio, Camera Studio, Production | Distribution Studio, Sound Studio, Talent Motion, and Script Studio—which allowed participants to become more involved in their professional development and collaborative processes. In addition, 12 awards from various partners were announced at the Talent Project Market.
