Scholarship for Graduate Studies in Film Business at the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya
With the aim of promoting Mexican film talent, supporting the training of new generations of filmmakers, and fostering ties between international film industries, the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) and the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC) are launching this call for applications to award a full scholarship to pursue a graduate degree in Film Business in Barcelona.
This initiative aims to foster creativity, expand professional opportunities, and promote a cinematic dialogue between Mexico and the rest of the world, with the goal of giving a voice to stories that transcend borders.
The graduate program in Film Business provides theoretical and technical knowledge of marketing, distribution, and sales of film products, training students in the full executive production of an audiovisual project, from the initial concept to the final distribution window.
Rules
- Be a Mexican citizen or have verifiable permanent residency in Mexico.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent (in any field, preferably related to film, the arts, or communication), or demonstrate verifiable experience in the film industry (short films, feature films, screenwriting, directing, production, or other areas).
- Availability to travel to Terrassa, Barcelona, and attend classes in person from January to June 2027.
- The successful applicant will be responsible for handling their own immigration procedures and for any associated costs.
Applicants may register starting on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, through Friday, January 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (Central Mexico Time, UTC−6).
Requirements

In addition to completing the online registration form, all applicants must attach a PDF file to their application.
Documents must be submitted in 12-point Arial font, double-spaced, and contain the following information in the order listed:
- Copy of official identification (INE).
- Proof of address in Mexico.
- Updated resume.
- A copy of your degree certificate and undergraduate diploma. If you do not have these documents, you may submit evidence of professional experience, such as certificates of completion, courses, or audiovisual projects in which you have participated.
- Professional or academic letter of recommendation.
- Video pitch presenting the candidate and outlining their rationale.
The selected candidate will receive:
- Full tuition coverage for the Film Business graduate program at ESCAC for the 2027 academic year.
- Accommodation for the entire duration of the graduate program in Terrassa, Barcelona (January 1 through June 30, 2027).
- Round-trip airline tickets: Mexico City – Barcelona – Mexico City.
- Travel allowance of up to 2,500 euros for the entire duration of the graduate program.
Important dates
- Application period opens: Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
- Application deadline: Friday, January 30, 2026.
- Announcement of the winner: April 2026, during the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Application
Applications must be submitted electronically via eventival.com/ficg/2026 within the specified time frame.
- Applications submitted outside the dates specified in the call for applications will not be accepted.
- The selection committee will be composed of representatives from the FICG and the ESCAC.
- The committee's decision will be final.
Terms and Conditions
- By registering for this call for applications, the participant certifies, under penalty of perjury, that the information provided is true and accurate and that they have the necessary authorizations to participate in the program.
- Participants grant the FICG a non-exclusive, royalty-free, and revocable license to use the information, documents, materials, content, name, and image provided, solely for purposes related to the evaluation, promotion, dissemination, and communication of the program, as well as for cultural and promotional activities, without this implying any obligation to provide remuneration, payment, or financial compensation, nor the transfer of copyright.
- Registration and participation imply express acceptance of all provisions set forth in the calls for applications, guidelines, internal policies, and administrative decisions issued by the FICG. These provisions shall apply throughout all stages of the process. Likewise, they entail the obligation to sign a scholarship acceptance agreement, which will detail the academic, financial, and administrative obligations, as well as the grounds for revocation or early termination of the scholarship. Failure to comply with one or more provisions may result in the cancellation of participation or the disqualification of the applicant.
- The FICG will hold the rights to the logo for the corresponding call for entries, project, competition, award, and/or event, which may be modified if necessary. Its use is subject to written authorization from the FICG.
- Participants are strictly prohibited from creating, printing, reproducing, or using any material that includes, but is not limited to, the image of the Guadalajara International Film Festival without prior authorization.
- The evaluation and selection of participants will be carried out by a committee appointed by the FICG. The committee’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed. No individual feedback will be provided on projects that are not selected.
- Any situation not covered in this call for proposals will be interpreted and resolved by the FICG, which reserves the right to make modifications, adjustments, or updates to this call for proposals at any time, when it deems it necessary for the proper implementation of the program. Any modifications will be published on the FICG’s official website. Furthermore, any dispute arising from the interpretation, application, or execution of this call for entries will be resolved definitively and without appeal by the FICG.
- Participation, selection, and the awarding of prizes do not imply the existence of any employment, commercial, partnership, alliance, or corporate relationship between the parties, nor do they constitute a mandate or confer any powers of representation. Therefore, participants may not present themselves as agents, representatives, attorneys-in-fact, or agents of the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
- It is the responsibility of the foreign national to ensure they have the passport, entry permit, and/or visa required to enter Spain.
