The FICG and ESCAC Launch the First Edition of the 2026 Film Business Scholarship

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), in collaboration with the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC), announces the first edition of the FICG–ESCAC 2026 call for applications, which will award a full scholarship to pursue a graduate degree in Film Business in Barcelona, Spain.

This joint initiative aims to promote Mexican film talent, support the training of new generations of filmmakers, and strengthen academic and professional ties between Mexico and the international audiovisual industry.

ESCAC’s graduate program in Film Business offers specialized training in the marketing, distribution, and sales of film products, providing participants with the tools they need to understand and manage the entire executive production cycle of an audiovisual project, from the conception of the idea to its commercial exploitation.

The selected candidate will receive full tuition coverage, housing in Terrassa (Barcelona) for the duration of the program, round-trip airfare (Mexico City–Barcelona–Mexico City), and a travel allowance of up to 2,500 euros for the study period, which will take place from January to June 2027.

Requirements and Registration

This call for applications is open to Mexican nationals or individuals with verifiable permanent residency in Mexico who hold a bachelor’s degree or have verifiable professional experience in the film industry.

Applications must be submitted digitally via eventival.com/ficg/2026, starting Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and ending Friday, January 30, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. (Central Mexico Time, UTC−6).

The selection process will be conducted by a committee composed of representatives from the FICG and the ESCAC. The committee’s decision will be final.

The name of the recipient will be announced in April 2026, during the Guadalajara International Film Festival.

With this first edition of the FICG–ESCAC Film Business Scholarship, both institutions are reinforcing their commitment to education, internationalization, and the professionalization of Mexican cinema, opening up new opportunities for growth at one of Europe’s most renowned film schools.
