Writing with Fire

India | 2021 | 93 min | Hindi

Synopsis

Set in the heart of Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state (200 million inhabitants), also a state known for its notorious levels of corruption, violence against women and the brutal oppression of its minorities, Writing with Fire tells the story of India's only newspaper run by Dalit (low caste) women in a cluttered news landscape dominated by men. Armed with smartphones, Chief Reporter Meera and her journalists break traditions, be it on the frontlines of India's biggest issues or within the confines of their homes, redefining what it means to be powerful.
