With an acting career that began more than four decades ago, Kate del Castillo attended the 41st edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) for the world premiere of her short film *Zumbido* at an outdoor screening in the Plaza Bicentenario at the Cineteca Universidad de Guadalajara.
Written and directed by the Mexican actress, the short film marks her directorial debut. The story explores gender-based violence as an issue that can be hidden behind a rehearsed smile—in this case, that of an actress—and how this turns her entire world upside down.
In this way, Kate del Castillo sought to reaffirm the importance of keeping alive a discussion that is undoubtedly uncomfortable but necessary for raising awareness. *Zumbido* stars Ana Sofía Gatica, Diana Bovio, Mauricio Isaac, and Martín Barba.
That same night also featured the screening of the short film *El viaje de Luciano*, written and directed by Edgar Bahena and starring José Ángel Bichir alongside Kate del Castillo. The film tells a story of resilience, faith, and acceptance through the eyes of a father in crisis following the birth of his son, who was born with health complications.
The directors took the opportunity to express their gratitude for the support they received in making both short films, highlighting the contributions of Yair Ponce, Mónica Lozano, and Hari Sama.
The evening concluded with a screening of the film *La misma luna* (2007), directed by Patricia Riggen from Jalisco and starring Kate del Castillo and Eugenio Derbez.
