(GUADALAJARA, JALISCO, JUEVES 22 DE JULIO DE 2021).- DocuLab: Laboratorio de Documentales, programa de Industria del Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara, anuncia los ocho proyectos documentales seleccionados para su decimotercera edición, que se realizará del 3 al 6 de octubre de 2021, durante la edición 36 del Festival.

Desde su creación, DocuLab ha impulsado el desarrollo de los realizadores iberoamericanos y sus películas en etapa de montaje, desde el análisis profundo y la discusión con expertos en el género.

Con más de una década de existencia, DocuLab se ha afianzado como un espacio formativo fundamental para el género de no-ficción de Iberoamérica.

SINOPSIS

En una comunidad cerrada de clase alta cerca de la Ciudad de México, un residente ha tomado el control de los servicios de seguridad privados locales. Mientras trata de mantener a sus vecinos y familiares a salvo, la presión ejercida sobre los guardias y sobre él mismo comienza a cobrar un precio cada vez mayor.

In an upper class gated community near Mexico City, a fellow resident has taken control of the local private security services. As he tries to keep his neighbors and family safe, the pressure put on the guards and on himself begin to take an ever-increasing toll.

El entramado político, judicial, mediático, aparece para privar de los derechos más elementales, a esta mujer que ha decidido desde hace mucho tiempo, emprender un camino distinto. A través de la historia de Dolores podremos vislumbrar el rol de la mujer dentro de este universo patriarcal, que tiene como punto de quiebre la expulsión – de manera fraudulenta- por parte de su madre y sus tres hermanos varones de todos los derechos hereditarios a partir de la muerte de su padre.

Other Seeds narrates the life of Dolores Etchevehere, a woman who belongs to one of the most powerful, wealthy, and influential families in Argentina. The political, judicial, and media framework appears to corner and deprive this woman of the most elementary rights, who has decided for a long time to take a different path. Through the history of Dolores we will be able to glimpse the role of women within this patriarchal universe, whose breaking point is the expulsion - fraudulently - by her mother and her three male brothers of all hereditary rights from of his father's death.

SINOPSIS

Iván Bilbao, de 33 años, atraviesa el inmenso pabellón hasta llegar a la ultima reja del penal. Del otro lado una familia fragmentada por 5 años de ausencia.

En el regreso a su pueblo, Iván deambula desorientado entre su hogar y la posibilidad de recuperar lo que alguna vez fue.

Su mujer, Yamila y su hija, Luz, pondrán a prueba a Iván en la búsqueda de un destino mejor, que se vislumbra por la llegada de un hijo.

Iván Bilbao, 33 years old, walks down the corridor of a huge prison block, until he reaches the penitentiary’s last set of bars. On the other side, a broken family a er five years of absence.

When he goes back to his hometown, a confused Iván wanders between his home, and the possibility of recovering a lost version of himself.

His wife, Yamila and his daughter, Luz, will put Iván to the test in the search for a better destiny.

Desde los Montes de Maria a Nueva York, “Donde Caer” nos narra la historia de 3 cantadoras afrodescendientes de diferentes generaciones, que encontraron en el Bullerengue una manera de enfrentar y sobreponerse a las dificultades en sus vidas, a la vez que revelan aquella característica única de este ancestral y tradicional ritmo. Desde su presente, sus espacios, sus rutinas, sus bailes y sus canciones, ellas nos narran no solamente la historia de sus vidas, el Bullerengue y su legado, sino la historia de una cultura que ha logrado resistir a pesar de la violencia y el conflicto que han sufrido sus territorios.

From the Colombian coast to New York City, Nowhere to Fall follows the stories of three women from different generations who found in the musical tradition of “bullerengue” a way to overcome the difficulties of their life while revealing and embodying the characteristics of this ancestral Afro musical tradition. From their present, their spaces, their singing and their creative process, they show us not only their lives and the story of bullerengue but also the story of a culture that , through perseverance, has overcome the armed conflict and forced displacement in Colombian territories.

Entre los archivos oficiales del gobierno y los fragmentos archivos íntimos de más de 500 cintas de distintas familias paraguayas se reflexiona sobre la mirada y la construcción de una memoria colectiva a través de las imágenes e invita a mirar al pasado no como un periodo que permanece atrás, sino como una serie de gestos solapados que perduran en el presente.

Among the official government archives and the intimate archive fragments of more than 500 tapes of different Paraguayan families, it is reflected on the look and the construction of a collective memory through images and invites us to look at the past not as a period that remains behind, but as a series of overlapping gestures that persist in the present

SINOPSIS

En el año 1998, una detención por sospecha motivó a mi tío Bernardo Oyarzún a autorretratarse como “delincuente”, evidenciando a través de los estigmas raciales su propia identidad indígena. Su carrera artística me ha guiado desde entonces en la pregunta sobre el ‘ser mapuche en la ciudad’, pudiendo excavar en los registros de sus trabajos la lengua que abandonaron mis ancestros, recuperando lo que en mi familia parecía olvidado.

An arrest on suspicion in the year 1998 motivated my uncle Bernardo Oyarzún to portray himself as a "delinquent", evidencing through racial stigmas his own indigenous identity. His artistic career has guided me since then in the question of 'being Mapuche in the city', being able to excavate in the records of his works the language that my ancestors abandoned, recovering what in my family seemed forgotten.
