Call for entries for film projects in post-production
The Guadalajara International Film Festival announces the opening to apply for Guadalajara Construye 19 / Works in progress; event which seeks to contribute to the conclusion of Ibero-American feature films in their final post-production stage. The event will take place during the 40th edition of Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Up to seven narrative films in post-production stage in search of funding for their conclusion will be screened before film industry professionals: producers, distributors, sales agents, and festival representatives with the possibility of obtaining funds to help these films conclude and eventually be released.
BASES
All selected films will be granted:
- The chance to have one screening in the Industry screening room of FICG40.
- The inclusion of the project’s information in the Industry’s catalogue.
- Two Industry badges for two representatives of each film.
- The possibility of accommodation for 3 nights. One double room per project.
The participation is free of charge, however, travel and food expenses are the responsibility of the representatives of the film.
The call for entries is open from Monday, October 14th 2024 to Friday, December 27th 2024, 18:00 hr Central Mexican Time.
Films registered for this section in prior editions will not be received. Films’ running time must be between 70 and 120 min.
The Organizing Committee has the right to include projects by direct invitation. Films participating in Guadalajara Construye must include the festival’s logo as well as Guadalajara Construye/ Works in progress in its credits.
A film participating in Guadalajara Construye could be considered to have its national premiere in the official selection of the Festival for its 2026 edition.
The selected projects must confirm their assistance to the event, otherwise their participation will be automatically cancelled and a runner up will be selected.
The results of the selected projects are final.
Once the film has been selected, two copies in Blu-ray or DVD must be sent to Guadalajara by the representatives of the film.
In any case, the file must be in stereo sound and subtitled in English or Spanish depending on original version.
The Festival will not be held responsible for any damage or loss of the material during the shipping stage. The copies received will not be returned.
All shipping and handling costs must be paid in advance by the participant, and it must have the following legend on the package “Material cultural sin valor comercial”.
The Festival will not cover shipping or custom fees.

For all the selected projects, the information provided on the registration form will be the one published in the industry catalogue.
- Upload the most recent cut of the film (subtitled in Spanish or English depending on the original language) to a viewing or video platform, this must be a private or a password protected link. DOWNLOADABLE FILES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
IMPORTANTE: Cualquier situación no prevista o cambios en los puntos aquí señalados será resuelta por el comité organizador del FICG.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
- The General Direction of FICG will resolve any matter that it’s not foreseen in this call for entries. These cases will be evaluated by the Direction and the responsible of each area involved.
- The submission and participation of the project supposes the acceptance of this call for entries. The neglect of one or more requirements and conditions entails the cancellation of the participation at the Festival or the disqualification of the project.
- FICG has a policy of zero tolerance in the face of disrespectful behaviour, harassment, or any situation that endangers the integrity of our guests, organising committee, audiences and volunteers.
- FICG reserves the right to modify the present call for entries.
- The projects that accept the invitation, will receive the proper documentation delimiting the rights and conditions of the benefits offered by FICG, related to accreditation, hospitality and transportation, to the participants of each programme. FICG will not provide any additional prerogatives to the participants.
- Those registered under oath of truth; They are accredited as the authors of the work and holders of the moral and economic rights thereof. Likewise, they ensure that they have the permissions and rights to reproduce texts, works, music and other materials subject to intellectual property and copyright laws used in the registered project. The filmmakers undertake to demarcate the Board of Trustees of the International Film Festival in Guadalajara, A.C. and the University of Guadalajara from any responsibility for possible claims regarding intellectual property and copyright that may arise from any of the participating films, by third parties.
