FICG40 ANNOUNCES THE FILMS SELECTED FOR THE OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL ANIMATED FEATURE SECTION

The 40th edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) announces the selection of films that will compete in the International Animated Feature Film section.

International animated feature films in any technique participate and the Best Animated Feature Film is awarded with a Mayahuel statuette and $500,000.00 Mexican pesos.

Endless Cookie (2024)

Canada

Through a series of vignettes, some tragic, some funny, all a little strange, this feature-length animated documentary explores the complex bond between two half-brothers, one indigenous and one white, spanning from the bustling Toronto of the 1980s to the present-day isolated First Nations community of Shamattawa.

The Great History of Western Philosophy (2025)

Mexico

A cosmic animator is hired by the Central Committee of the People's Republic to make a philosophical film based on an original idea of Chairman Mao, who has decided, before starting, that he does not like this film and condemns the animator to death, just like that. Breathe a sigh of relief, for the sentence was never carried out, thanks to the intervention of Monkey and Pig, the heroes of Journey to the West.

Olivia & the clouds explores the complexities of love through the Rashomon effect. Olivia hides the ghost of a past relationship under her bed. She gives him flowers in exchange for clouds that she hangs on her ceiling. Barbara, rejected by Mauricio, escapes from reality through fantastic worlds and stories. Mauricio, repentant after losing Barbara, is swallowed by the earth. Ramón, obsessed with Olivia, cultivates and watches a strange plant that looks like her grow. With surreal elements, Olivia & the clouds shows us the power of memories and love.

Pig That Survived Foot-And-Mouth Disease (2024)

I am Frankelda (2025)
