FICG + UNIAT / FICGAMES 2026 Call for Entries: "From Story to Game"

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) and the University of Advanced Technologies (UNIAT) invite legally registered video game studios, independent developers, and students to participate in the second edition of FICGames, “From Story to Game,” an event focused on the development of video games with narrative elements.

 

FICGames is a collaboration between FICG and UNIAT aimed at encouraging and promoting the video game development industry for games that incorporate narrative elements into their gameplay, regardless of genre or type.

 

The programs that FICGames is launching in 2026 are:

 

  • FICGames Pitch 2026
  • FICGames Play Test 2026

FICGames Pitch 2026

As part of the FICG’s Pitch Guadalajara program, you’ll have the opportunity to present your pitch deck and trailer to industry experts. The requirements to apply are as follows:

 

  • Present a pitch deck.
  • The pitch or trailer should reflect the game's narrative elements. The slot for the video game pitch is reserved exclusively for participants from Latin America.
  • Participants must be able to attend the event in person, which will take place in Guadalajara, Jalisco, from April 17 to 25, 2026.
  • The quota for video game pitches is limited to five pitches.

 

This event will take place as part of the FICG Industry program in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

FICGames Playtest 2026

Enter to win one of the exclusive spots to showcase your demo and let the audience and industry professionals attending the FICG check out your project.

 

  • Projects that are in the demo stage will be accepted.
  • Playable demo: The demo must be fully functional, with victory and defeat conditions, and must include an easy way to restart the game (via a menu or a dedicated button).
  • Games must include narrative elements, even if they are not fully implemented. The winners will have a physical space where event attendees can play their demos.
  • The number of slots is limited to ten projects.

  • Cell phone (Android).
  • VR (Meta Quest 2).

Registration

Registration for both programs will be open from Wednesday, January 14, 2026, through Friday, February 13, 2026.

 

These are completely free.

 

If selected, the FICG may provide the following benefits:

 

  • Industry Participant Accreditation.
  • Access to the FICG Industry matchmaking platform and marketplace.
  • Up to two nights' lodging for a maximum of two people per project on the day of the FICGames Pitch.

 

If selected, all participants must cover their own travel expenses to attend the FICG in person, as well as their own meals.
