Call for entries for film projects in post-production
The Guadalajara International Film Festival announces the opening to apply for Guadalajara Construye 20 / Works in progress; event which seeks to contribute to the conclusion of Ibero-American feature films in their final post-production stage. The event will take place during the 41st edition of Guadalajara International Film Festival.
Up to six films, exclusively fiction films in work in progress and in search of financing for their completion, will be presented to industry professionals invited to FICG: producers, distributors, sales agents, service companies, aid funds and festival representatives with the possibility of contributing to the completion of the feature films and their subsequent exhibition.
Guidelines
All selected films will be granted:
- The chance to have one screening in the Industry screening room of FICG41.
- Publication of the project information in the Industry catalog (digital).
- Two Industry badges for two representatives of each film.
- Possibility of accommodation for three nights (one double room per project).
The participation is free of charge, however, travel and food expenses are the responsibility of the representatives of the film.
Films may be submitted from Thursday, August 21, 2025 through Friday, October 21, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Central Mexican Time. Thursday, August 21, 2025 through Friday, October 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. Central Mexico time.. Films that have been submitted to this section in previous editions are not eligible to participate.
Works with at least one first cut will be received. The first cut must be between 70 and 120 minutes long. Films longer than 120 minutes will not be reviewed by the committee. will not be reviewed by the committee.
Films seeking distribution only will not be accepted in the program. The Festival may cancel a film that has already been selected if, when requesting the final material for screening, the film is already in a final cut and is only seeking distribution.
A film participating in Guadalajara Construye could be considered to have its national premiere in the official selection of the Festival for its next edition.
The selected projects must confirm their assistance to the event, otherwise their participation will be automatically cancelled and a runner up will be selected.
If selected, it will be necessary to send a video file, size: 1920×1080 or 2048×1080, compressor: H.264 - MP4, extension: MP4, audio: ACC Stereo (L. R) 48Khz 16 Bits and frame rate: 24fps (preferably) or the native of origin (through Vimeo, WeTransfer, or any other file sending platform) of the latest version of the film.
Films participating in Guadalajara Construye must include the festival’s logo as well as Guadalajara Construye/ Works in progress in its credits. The organizing committee reserves the right to invite specific feature films to participate.

Mandatory registration requirements

For all the selected projects, the information provided on the registration form will be the one published in the industry catalogue.
- Send the most recent cut of the feature film, subtitled in English, and in case it is in a language other than Spanish, it will be necessary to have Spanish subtitles, in a link with a password. Downloadable files will not be considered.
Participation conditions
- By registering for this call, the participant declares under oath that they are the legitimate holder of the rights to the information, documents, and materials submitted, and that they possess the necessary authorizations to participate in the program.
- It is understood that if, as a result of the activities under this program, the participant violates any third-party intellectual property rights, they will bear full responsibility. The participant agrees to hold the FICG harmless from any liability arising from potential claims related to intellectual property and copyright.
- Participants grant the FICG a non-exclusive, free, and revocable authorization to use the information, documents, materials, and contents submitted, solely for purposes related to evaluation, promotion, and dissemination. This authorization does not imply any transfer of economic rights or exploitation rights over such materials.
- Participants authorize the FICG to use their name, image, trade name, materials, as well as any general information contained in the submitted documentation, for exclusively cultural, promotional, informational, or program dissemination purposes, without generating any obligation for remuneration, payment, or economic compensation. This authorization does not imply a transfer of intellectual property rights over works or projects.
- Registration and participation imply the express acceptance of all provisions contained in the calls for entries, as well as guidelines, internal policies, and administrative decisions issued by the FICG, which shall apply throughout all stages of the process. Failure to comply with one or more clauses may result in the cancellation of participation in the FICG or disqualification from competition.
- The FICG maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any case of disrespect, harassment, or situations that may put at risk the integrity of guests, the organizing committee, audiences, or volunteers.
- The Parties agree that the FICG holds the rights to the logo of the call, project, competition, award, and/or named event, which may be modified if necessary. The use of said logo is subject to prior written authorization from the FICG.
- Participants are strictly prohibited from creating, printing, reproducing, or using any type of material—including, but not limited to, the image of the Guadalajara International Film Festival—without prior authorization.
- The evaluation and selection of participants will be carried out by a committee designated by the FICG. The committee’s decisions are final and non-appealable. No individual feedback will be provided on unselected projects.
- Any matter not foreseen in the calls for entries will be interpreted and resolved by the FICG, which reserves the right to make modifications, adjustments, or updates to this call at any time, whenever deemed necessary for the proper development of the program. Likewise, any dispute arising from the interpretation, application, or execution of this call will be resolved definitively and without appeal by the FICG.
- Participation, awarding, selection, and/or exhibition of the project does not imply the existence of any labor, commercial, partnership, alliance, or joint venture relationship between the parties. Each party will maintain full independence and legal personality at all times, assuming the rights and obligations arising from independent legal acts before third parties. This shall not constitute a mandate, nor grant powers of representation of one party over the other, and participants may not present themselves as an agent, representative, proxy, or mandatary of the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
- It is the responsibility of the foreign participant to have a valid passport, entry permit, and/or the necessary visa to enter Mexico.
