GUADALAJARA BUILDS

Call for film projects in the post-production stage

With the aim of supporting the completion of Ibero-American feature films in post-production, Guadalajara Construye 20 will be held as part of the 41st Guadalajara International Film Festival.

Up to six feature films— all works in progress seeking funding to complete production—will be presented to industry professionals invited to the FICG: producers, distributors, sales agents, service companies, funding organizations, and festival representatives who may be able to contribute to the completion of the feature films and their subsequent screening.

Rules

The selected feature films will receive:

  • The possibility of a screening as part of the Industry program at the 41st FICG.

  • The publication of project information in the Ministry of Industry's (digital) catalog.

  • Free industry accreditation for two representatives of the participating feature film.

  • Accommodation is available for three nights (one double room per project).

Participation is free of charge. However, participating films are responsible for their own travel expenses to Guadalajara and meal costs.

Films may be submitted starting Thursday, August 21, 2025, through Friday, October 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Central Mexico Time. Films that have been entered in this section in previous editions are not eligible to participate.

Submissions must include at least a first rough cut. The rough cut must be between 70 and 120 minutes in length. Films longer than 120 minutes be reviewed by the committee.

Films that are solely seeking distribution will not be accepted into the program; the Festival may remove a film from the selection if, upon requesting the final screening copy, the film is already in its final cut and is solely seeking distribution.

The winning films from "Guadalajara Construye" will be eligible for consideration in the official selection of the Guadalajara International Film Festival once they have been completed.

The selected films must confirm their attendance at the 41st FICG; otherwise, their participation will automatically be considered canceled and another entry will be selected.

If selected, you will need to submit a video file with the following specifications: resolution: 1920×1080 or 2048×1080, codec: H.264 – MP4, file extension: MP4, audio: AAC Stereo (L/R) 48 kHz 16-bit, and frame rate: 24 fps (preferably) or the original native format (via Vimeo, WeTransfer, or any file-sharing platform) of the latest version of the film.

The copy must include English subtitles (required); if it is in a language other than Spanish, it must include both English and Spanish subtitles burned into the video.

Feature films produced through Guadalajara Construye must include the logos of the Guadalajara International Film Festival and Guadalajara Construye in the film’s credits. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to invite a feature film to participate.

The results regarding the selected films are final.
