Dir. Adela Goldbard

(Mexico, Peru, United States, Canada)
Socially committed, participatory and experimental film that blurs the boundaries between ethnography, documentary and fiction. It takes place in the immersive geography of the Peruvian Andes, offering a powerful exploration of indigenous struggle. Created in collaboration with inhabitants of the Quechua region of Chumbivilcas, it reinterprets and subverts historical and contemporary narratives related to social conflicts. Drawing from their own desires for emancipation, community members co-created an uncensored narrative that celebrates indigenous cultural practices, reconfigured as acts of resistance.

Thirty years later, the effects of violence continue to reverberate in her family and more broadly in her home, Puerto Rico, where a state of emergency has just been declared in the wake of gender-based violence.
