THE TREATY OF INVISIBILITY AND THEY SHALL NOT MOVE US: FROM TRIUMPH AT THE FICG TO SUCCESS AT THE ARIEL AWARDS

Directed by Luciana Kaplan and Pierre Saint-Martin, both films won major awards at the 39th edition of our Festival

The Ariel Awards are presented by the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences (AMACC) and recognize the best in Mexican cinema from the past year. No Nos Moverán  by Pierre Saint-Martin, winner of the Mezcal Award and the Audience Award at the FICG, took home the Ariel for Best Actress for Luisa Huertas, Breakthrough Performance for José Alberto Patiño, Best Original Screenplay for Pierre Saint-Martin and Iker Compean Leroux, and Best Debut Feature. Meanwhile, Luciana Kaplan ’s *Tratado de invisibilidad* , winner of the Youth Jury Award and the FIPRESCI Award, won the Ariel for Best Documentary Feature.

The Golden Ariel is an award given to those who, over the years, have contributed to the excellence of Mexican cinema. At this year’s ceremony, two Golden Ariels—an award recognizing years of excellence in Mexican cinema—were presented to actresses Patricia Reyes Spíndola and Jacqueline Andere, whose careers are immortalized in the films of Felipe Cazals and Arturo Ripstein, which have left their mark on the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).
